Two species of Hemigomphus occur in the ACT, H. heteroclytus (Stout Vicetail) and H. gouldii (Southern Vicetail). They are very similar in appearance and overlap broadly in habitat preference. Photos may frequently be insufficient in detail to distinguish between the two.
