The area has been overrun by mallows and clovers, so I was unable to find any uncommon small knotweed.

Small flowers make it possibly Malva parviflora. Much different from other mallow Malva neglecta (Dwarf Mallow) nearby.

Thank you, Michael. Our resident chef also attended and confirmed it was fennel. I've let the local Scullin community know in the hope that they have some avid foragers who can rid of this weedy herb.
