I thought this species was distributed closer to riparian areas but this area it at the top of a small cliff, very rocky and no drainage lines.,

Thanks for your care a lovely beetle that emerges in summer to mate. Not sure about numbers now and in the past but Christmas beetles, other summer emergent scarabs are also thought to be seriously down in numbers
