I didn't collect any of the specimens from that night, however I can do back and try to find them, and raise them to adulthood.

I'm not sure what they eat though and pretty rubbish at plant identification. I'd assume the caterpillars found on live plants that have leaves, would eat that species of plants, however some of the caterpillars like this one; were on dead trees with no foliage

Yes - hollows may take a long time to form but many are worryingly short-lived. Of our 80 known Canberra nest hollows this is now the tenth loss in our 7.5 years of watching and most trees we have only been watching for less than 4 years.

Good to see Baldy and partner back for another year - I wonder where they will nest this year.
